Made it: Our landlord Josef "Sepp" Schwaiger is Hotelier of the Year 2019!!!

Originally started as an outsider and unexpectedly nominated as a finalist, Sepp finally brought the victory to Maria Alm at the Rolling Pin Awards on April 1, 2019. Guests and friends of Eder Hotels made it possible, and so Sepp was crowned "Hotelier of the Year 2019" at the festive ceremony.

With the Rolling Pin Awards, the most dedicated, creative and courageous representatives from the gastronomy and hotel industry are chosen in various categories every year. Those nominated in the Hotelier of the Year category demonstrate supremacy in their market position and exhibit an innovative guest concept. The finalists manage either a single hotel or several establishments of a group, whereby size and star category do not play a role.

Courage, Passion and Lateral Thinking

Josef "Sepp" Schwaiger is a hotelier and host with passion and always there for his guests with total commitment and tireless dedication. The exceptional hotelier was nominated because the visionary with a lot of courage brought the traditional Hotel Eder to new splendor and created the new Hotel SEPP with extraordinary architecture, surprising design and a very special hotel concept beyond the mainstream.

Roots and Wings

Growing up in the family business Gasthof Eder in Maria Alm, Josef Schwaiger, the eldest of five children, breathed hotel air from an early age and internalized the processes in the hotel business. After graduating from high school, studying architecture and management with a specialization in business management in the tourism & leisure industry, Schwaiger took over his parents' business in 2008 as owner and managing director of Eder Hotels GmbH at the age of just 28 and converted the 29-room inn into a 72-room lifestyle hotel in the four-star superior category with a wellness area. In 2018, Josef Schwaiger laid the foundation for the Eder Collection with the opening of Hotel SEPP, which was built according to his architectural ideas.

Standing still is not an option for the busy hotelier. With his honorary posts as tourism board member of the Hochkönig region, as supervisory board member of the mountain railroads and municipal representative of Maria Alm, Josef Schwaiger makes a significant contribution to the further development of regional tourism. At the same time, he is known for his cheerful, warm hospitality in his two hotels and is tirelessly personally committed to the well-being of his guests.

"If, when checking out, the guest is sad to leave but happy about his stay, we have done everything right," the passionate hotelier explains his daily goal and is delighted to receive the award: "The award makes me very proud, not only of my life's work, but of my family and my team, without whose great support the success would not be possible."
